As part of the Continental Cup festivities the Vikings Curling team was treated to a training session with the Chinese Curling team.

The City of Camrose hosts the Continental Cup of Curling December 18-21st. This is a format that resembles the Ryder Cup of Golf. As part of the festivities the Vikings Curling team was treated to a training session with The Chinese Curling team. Chinese Curling has experienced a meteoric rise in World Curling and have achieved remarkable International success recently.

“Coming on the heels of remarkable international success in 2008, two teams from China will join Team World….skipped by Bingyu Wang, who earned a silver medal at the Ford world women’s and Fengchun Wang, who finished fourth at the 2008 world men’s, while making his country’s debut in the championship.”

‘What a great thrill for our Viking athletes to be exposed to the skill and determination of the Chinese teams” said Greg Ryan, Director of Athletics and Recreation at Augustana.

On hand for the session was Dean of Augustana, Roger Epp. Dr. Epp offered a welcome and some gifts from Augustana for the Chinese team.
