Coach Skinstad and the the Vikings Ski Team are very pleased to announce that Kalli Green from Collingwood, Ontario will be attending Augustana this fall and will be a strong new addition to their roster of student athletes. Kalli chose Augustana because of our dynamic ski program and because of the “small university feel” of our institution.
She had a great 2009 National Championships which were held in her hometown placing 11th in the 10 km. classic event and 13th in the 15 km. skating competition. Kalli consistently medaled in the Ontario Cup races that she participated in throughout the winter. As a member of the Ontario Junior Development Team she will bring valuable experience to our women’s team. Green has great leadership qualities and we expect that she will play an important role on the team this year.
Two other recruits that Coach Skinstad is excited about are Emma Norris of Orangeville, Ontario who has also had strong results this season and Leah Pengelly who hails from Canmore, Alberta. Joan Skinstad, Head Coach stated that, “We needed to strengthen our team on the female side and I feel that this is one of most competitive groups that we have had at Augustana for quite some time and we are looking forward to an exciting 2009-2010 season.”
