An fMRI study published in 2008 and headed by neuroscience researcher and sport psychologist Dr. Henry (Hap) Davis IV tracked the brain’s reaction to personal, self-referent failure; Davis et al. had swimmers from Canada’s Olympic swim team repeatedly view their own career-threatening failed performances on video. In this presentation, Schlosser discusses the results of a two-year study in which he investigated the neuroscience research of Davis and others.
Ultimately, he proposes a video-based recital review protocol (RRP) in order to assist pianists who experience failure or perceive themselves as failing
