Andrew is looking forward to the excellent training facilities that Camrose has to offer as well as the small campus feel of Augustana.
Originally from Dunedin, New Zealand Andrew Pohl decided to make the move to Canmore, Alberta where he has trained full time with Rocky Mountain Racers under coach John Jacques since 2007. Andrew is also a member of the New Zealand ski team.
Being from New Zealand Andrew has been able to train on snow almost year round by switching hemispheres with the seasons. This elite level training had enabled him to achieve high ranking results this past season with a 17th place finish in the 50km Olympic qualifier in Canmore, and a 50th place finish in the 15km classic at the World U23 Championships in Hinterzarten, Germany.
Andrew is looking forward to the excellent training facilities that Camrose has to offer as well as the small campus feel of Augustana while he pursues a degree in Physical Education. “The Augustana Cross Country team is a small developing team but from what I have seen its members are close knit and supportive, hopefully this environment will enable me to continue my growth in the sport.”
Andrew hopes to continue to make consistent top 25 performances on the North American Cup race circuit, as well as help Augustana to a Canadian College & University Nordic Championship title.
