The National Youth Choir of Canada in Concert
Every two years, the finest choral singers between the ages of 18 and 25 are auditioned across the country to form Canada’s National Youth Choir. Since its formation, the choir has won critical acclaim from audiences coast to coast. Renowned Canadian choral conductors have been invited to conduct the choir. The NYC has performed at all Choral Canada Podium national choral conferences since 1984 and also at the 1993 World Symposium on Choral Music in Vancouver. NYC concerts have been broadcast nationally on the CBC Stereo Network. The National Youth Choir conductor for 2016 is Edmonton’s Michael Zaugg.
Between May 7th and May 14th the NYC will be a RESIDENT choir on our very own UofA Augustana Campus!
After one week of intense rehearsal at Augustana, the NYC will perform their first concert in Camrose before the choir embarks on a provincial tour and performances at Choral Canada’s Podium national conference in Edmonton. You will have the opportunity to hear the finest choral singing that Canada has to offer in Augustana’s glorious chapel.
Tickets (available at the door): $25 (adults); $20 (seniors/students/children). For purchase in advance, drop by the Augustana Fine Arts/Music Office or ph. 780-679-1532.
