Dean Roger Epp visits schools and alumni in sourthern Alberta

As part of his mission to visit the places from which Augustana’s students are drawn, Dean Roger Epp spent much of this past week touring towns and cities throughout southern Alberta. The Dean met with students and alumni in their schools and at gatherings in a variety of venues in their area. Dr. Epp has said that he sees his role at Augustana as one that contributes to building relationships with communities throughout Alberta and Canada; his tour of southern Alberta was one way to help achieve this goal.

Dr. Epp also made a point to connect with guidance counsellors throughout the region, visiting representatives in Medicine Hat, Airdrie, Chestermere, and Strathmore. These visits were important, as they allowed the Dean to get a chance to hear the counsellors’ thoughts on their students, as well as to say thank you for the job that they do getting the word out about postsecondary institutions.

“This Dean’s Tour was a great opportunity for the Dean to meet with next year’s students, and to touch base with alumni,” says Admissions Counsellor Lisa Feng, who was also along for the Tour. “Having that personal interaction with someone like the Dean is so important for our incoming students; I think it really gives them a sense of the types of relationships we strive to build here at Augustana throughout the course of their degree.”

Previous Dean’s Tours included visits to Yellowknife, Wainwright, Grande Prairie, Cold Lake, Lacombe, Westlock, and Edson.
