On Friday, the Vikings battled against the Taylor Fire. With a little hiccup in the middle, the Vikings came out on top with a 3 – 1 win (25-16, 25-20, 18-25, and 25-15). This win was Coach Tigchelaar’s (and the Augustana men’s volleyball team’s) 150th ACAL career win.

Next up on Saturday was a trip to Ambrose in Calgary against the Olds Broncos and the Ambrose Lions. The Broncos were no match for the Vikings, as Augustana took the match with ease with scores of 25-18, 25-11, and 25-19.

Last up on the day were the pesky Ambrose Lions. In what is sure to be a preview of this year’s gold medal final, the Lions and Vikings showcased what ACAL volleyball should be. In a back and forth battle, both teams split the first four games 25-20, 23-25, 18-25, and 25-19. Game five proved to be an epic one. With their boisterous home crowd behind them, the Lions would not give an inch. Game five went back and forth, and was finally settled with the Lions winning 22- 20. The Vikings sit in second place with a 5 – 1 record, but hold the tiebreaker edge against the Lions.

The Vikings head to Lacombe this Thursday and Lac La Biche on Friday.
