On December 8th of last year, the Augustana community mourned the loss of Brett Binder, a student-athlete who passed away after a courageous battle with leukemia. In the midst of his fight, Brett shared with his friends and family how invaluable blood was to all cancer patients. Brett said that if there was one thing people could do to help, it would be to give the gift of blood.
Last year, Augustana hosted a blood donor clinic in the Convocation Centre gymnasium. This clinic yielded a large turnout of first-time student donors. This December 18th, there will be another clinic in the memory of Brett’s life. Due to the exam schedule, Canadian Blood Services will be hosting the clinic at the Norsemen Inn. If the students and staff of Augustana are available during this time, donating blood is greatly encouraged. This selfless donation would be a tremendous Christmas present to many who are in need.
