Kai SkinstadTwo members of the Vikings cross-country ski team travelled to Valcartier, Quebec for the combined National and North American Biathlon Championships this past week. Both Kai and Jon Skinstad have had a very successful season this year, including a good week of competitions. Kai stepped up to the plate and had the race of the season last week. His biathlon results this year have been consistent and everything came together at the National Championships in Valcartier, Quebec. At Nationals, Skinstad placed third in the Junior Men’s individual 10 km sprint event. This result gave him a sixth place finish in the North American Championships. He added to his success by being selected to Alberta’s first relay team, which collectively won the bronze medal in the 10 km relay competition. Jon was the best Augustana student-athlete in the Senior Men’s category with a 12th and a 13th placing. Skinstad and his teammates placed fifth in the relay event.
