After suffering another setback by losing 82-98 to the Lakeland College Rustlers, the Men’s Basketball team came out on Saturday night determined to keep their hopes of a playoff berth alive. They started out strong, finishing the half ahead 53-50 before losing focus in the third quarter, trailing the Rustlers by as many as 9 at one point. However, midway through the fourth quarter, the Vikings caught fire and put a fantastic show for the home crowd, resulting in a 93-85 win.

David Ness, Mike McCorquindale, and Tony Nguyen all managed double digits in points with 14. 17, and 22 points respectively, but the Vikings also received great nights from their supporting cast, including key fourth quarter baskets from Joe Knight and 12 rebounds from Alex Butts. The win was Augustana’s first ever against Lakeland. They now prepare for another key matchup against the Macewan Griffins, which will begin on Friday night at Augustana.
