As the ACAC curling championships are approaching, Kendall Warawa and the rest of the men’s team are looking to make a run at the provincial championship. This is refreshing for Warawa, who is in his third season with the team.

“Since I’ve been here, we’ve won bronze twice,” says the third year Bachelor of Science student, “this year we have a shot of winning the whole thing.”

Team captain and skip, Warawa got started on curling when he was five. Originally coming to Augustana for a U of A degree, he has helped the team to an 8-3 record in tournament play, good for second in the league behind Red Deer College. The success attained so far in the season has been especially nice for the skip’s competitive nature.

“I find it hard to curl just for fun,” says Warawa, “so it’s nice to be able to compete and be successful.”

Warawa is hoping to use his Bachelor of Science degree towards medical school, with a strong possibility of optometry.
