Augustana’s chances of finishing ahead of third ranked Concordia are now gone due to a pair of losses to the Thunder. On Wednesday, Augustana fired 41 shots at reigning ACAC MVP Justin Cote but were only able to manage a single power-play goal against the talented goaltender in a 1-2 loss.

“We outplayed them,” said Captain Ryan Cornforth, “We executed our game plan and played hard. We just couldn’t figure out Cote, it seemed every time we got a shot on net he gloved it down for a stoppage.”

Torrie Dyck scored Augustana’s lone tally, with Tanner VanDeSype and Dan Hope getting assists on the play. The Vikings also received great efforts from Paul Kolida, who made 28 shots in the loss, and Scott Aucoin, who received player of the game for Augustana.

On Friday, the Vikings were dismantled by the Thunder in a 3-8 loss. Dyck, VanDeSype and Amiel scored goals for the Vikings while VanDeSype, Aucoin and Dyck added assists. Stebner made 35 saves in the loss. Despite the losses, the Vikings look forward to the playoffs, where they will battle the N.A.I.T. Ooks in a best of three quarterfinal series.
