Kari Kubinec from Trochu Valley High School has committed to Augustana.

Kari Kubinec from Trochu Valley High School has committed to Augustana. Coach Leanne Shenton is thrilled to have Kari Kubinec in a Vikings uniform next year, “Kari is an incredible athlete and a skilled shooter. We are excited to have her as a Viking next year as she will bring a high level of commitment, passion and skill to our Vikings team.”

Kari’s high level of success is highlighted by her numerous awards in high school. Kari received the female athlete of the year for her high school for the past three years. In addition, she was the Most Valuable Player and Captain for her basketball and volleyball teams. She garnered the 1A Player of the Year at Alberta Shooting Stars this year. She also received the Shooting Stars Rookie of the Year in 2008. In 2009 she played a pivotal role in helping her team win the 1A basketball provincial championship.

Kari is a well-rounded student-athlete and was able to achieve honours’ status throughout high school. Kari will find herself fitting in well with the Augustana Vikings and is looking forward to contribute at Augustana: “It was a difficult decision for me, as each college I was looking at had different positives and strengths about them. What it came down to was the team chemistry I sensed the few times I spent at Augustana. I felt very comfortable and welcomed by both the girls on the team as well as the coaching staff. Augustana seemed a good fit as it would meet my educational goals while not being too far away. I have heard nothing but good things about the college and I look forward to my years ahead as a Viking!”

The Augustana brochure is right – we are just the right distance from home!
