Vikings Women’s Volleyball is pleased to announce the addition of April Strandland for the 2010-2011 ACAC volleyball season. Since entering High School April has been a member of the schools volleyball team and has captured a Bronze, Silver, and Gold medal at the 2A Volleyball Provincials. She is currently a left-side hitter for the Griffins volleyball club out of Edmonton.
April will pursue a Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Physical Education. While at Augustana, she intends to concentrate on Kinesiology and Sport Studies
April grew up in Vegreville, Alberta, and looks forward to learning on and off the volleyball court at Augustana’s small campus. “I’m more than excited to be able to continue playing volleyball while also earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Playing college volleyball is going to be a dream-come-true and I’m really appreciative of this chance to improve my skills, experience a new level of play, and have a longer volleyball career. I’d also like to thank all the coaches I’ve ever had for helping me to improve, making this possible, and of course for their time and effort over the years. I look forward to facing whatever obstacles are thrown my way, and learning many new facets of the game during my education at Augustana.” Stephen Leggitt, Head Coach – Women’s Volleyball comments: “April is a great all round player and will add tremendously to our program, and I look forward to having the opportunity of coaching her over the next 4-5 years.”
