Cole McCartney commits to Augustana

The Augustana Vikings Men�s Volleyball is pleased to announce that Cole McCartney has committed to Augustana.
The Augustana Vikings Men’s Volleyball is pleased to announce that Cole McCartney, member of Alberta’s Provincial Volleyball Team Program and Viking Volleyball Club Captain has committed to Augustana.
The 6’5” middle played his high school volleyball at Tofield School under coach Kurt Otto. He has played club volleyball in Camrose as a member of the Vikings for the last two years under coaches Greg Ryan and Tom Tigchelaar. Last summer Cole trained as a member of the Team Alberta U16 Beach Volleyball team. Cole was recently selected to represent Alberta with the U17 team at the Western Canadian Elite Championship.
“Cole adds another dimension to our team as one of the premiere graduating middle blockers in the province”, said Vikings Head Coach Tom Tigchelaar.” “We are extremely pleased to welcome him to Augustana Volleyball” added Director of Athletics Greg Ryan. “Cole’s character and athletic ability are a combination one does not see very often. Having an athlete with the stature of Cole sign with Augustana speaks to the quality of our Club program, the efforts of Coach Tigchelaar and the great educational experience that Augustana offers to students.”
Cole will be pursuing a degree in Kinesiology with the goal of becoming a Chiropractor.
“I like the fact that Augustana has a four-year program rather than having to transfer after the second year. I have already built relationships with many guys of on the team, as well as other students at the school. I’m very excited to be a part of a new ACAC team and I look forward to the season ahead.”
