Multiple Juno winner, Grammy nominee, and Order of Canada recipient Jane Bunnett (Canadian Flute/Saxophone Phenomenon), with her Cuban Jazz Ensemble at Augustana!

Music enthusiasts will not want to miss an exciting and rare concert opportunity at the Augustana Campus of the University of Alberta on Wednesday, November 3rd. At 8:30 pm, the Faith & Life Chapel will be shaking with the jazz sounds of Canadian flute and saxophone phenomenon, Jane Bunnett, along with her ensemble:

Roberto Riveron, bass
Papiosco (Jorge Luis Torres), congas

Multiple Juno Award winner Jane Bunnett is known for her creative integrity, improvisational daring and courageous artistry. Her exploration of Afro-Cuban melodies expresses the universality of music and her ability to embrace and showcase the rhythms and culture of Cuba has been groundbreaking; her bands are showcases for the finest talent from Canada, the U.S. and Cuba. An internationally acclaimed musician, Jane Bunnett has toured the world bringing her own special sound to numerous jazz festivals, displaying her versatility as a flutist, saxophone player and pianist. As an educator, spokesperson and social activist, she remains unafraid to explore uncharted territory in her quest for excellence! Jane has had multiple Grammy nominations and has won six Juno Awards, and most recently, was honoured with an appointment to the Order of Canada.

folkwaysAlive!, University of Alberta in partnership with Smithsonian Folkways Recordings together with Augustana Campus of the University of Alberta, present this event to Camrose and area residents. Also on the same day [Nov. 3], Ms. Bunnett will give a free public lecture/demonstration at the Augustana Chapel from 4:15 – 5:30 pm. All are welcome.
