This past weekend the Augustana Vikings wrapped up their running season on the east coast. The team traveled to Fredericton, New Brunswick to compete in CCAA Championships where the team posted a good showing with the men finishing 5th and the women finishing 7th in a very competitive field. Fanshaw College of London Ontario took home the title for both the men and the women.
Augustana sent a strong team of six women and six men to the east coast. On the men’s side the team was lead by Andrew Pohl who finished 6th out of 146 competitors with a time of 26:03 over the 8km course. Kathryn Stone led the women with an equally impressive finishing time of 19:15 over the 5km course putting her in the 11th position out of 128 competitors. Kathryn Stone also helped bring home a silver medal for the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) all conference team. Andrew Pohl and Buddy Brown also helped the ACAC achieve a bronze medal in the All Conference team standings. Buddy Brown who is in his freshman year at Augustana, finished 31st with a time of 28:01.

After successfully winning the ACAC Championships title just two weeks ago the men’s team is once again happy with it progress and hopes to see even closer times within the team next year. The women’s team was equally successful.         While this Championship competition does mark the end of another successful competitive season for many of the runners on the Vikings XC Running team they will continue to hit the trails in preparation for another running season and spring indoor running races.
