Augustana’s Curling Team competed this past weekend in Vermilion, and bring home an ACAC Mixed Curling Championship!

Augustana Mixed Team
(Seated 3rd going to Provincials)

Skip: Andrew Evans
Third: Alison Owens
Second: Chad Szott
Lead: Kylie McLean
Fifth/Spare: Jessica Marchand

The Mixed Team after round robin placed first, beating the undefeated Nait (1st) team as well as Grant Macewan (2nd) and Red Deer teams (4th).

The Mixed would then win the 1-2 page playoff game again against the previously undefeated Nait team, giving them a bye into the final. Nait beat Red Deer in the 2-3 page playoff game to get back to the final. Here again Augustana would play Nait. After giving up a steal of 1 for the first 4 ends, the mixed team would pull through with a single point in the 5th end. Playing the 6th end, 3 points down without last rock, Augustana would steal 2 more points. Nait would be forced to take 1 point in the 7th end and Augustana would manage to score 2 points in the 8th end to tie the game, and force the Gold Medal game into an extra end. Augustana battled hard with Chad Szott and Kylie McLean sweeping their hearts out, to steal 1 point and the Gold Medal!

Augustana Men’s Team
