On February 26 the Vikings Men’s Curling Team and the Mixed Team found themselves having a bit of a de ja vu moment. After two days of competition the teams received a bye into the gold medal game. In 2011 both teams made it into the final rounds of the ACAC Championships with the Mixed Team coming out with the 2011 Mixed Championship Title.

The men played a long tough game but were unable to take the win. The men took home the silver medal in this years ACAC Championship but also secured a spot in the CCAA National Invitational. The men will head to Peterborough, Ontario on March 20 – 25 to take on the best collegiate curling teams in the country. This will be the first year that a national event is taking place and hopefully a CCAA Championship title will follow in the coming years. Good Luck Men!

The Mixed team showed their skill on the ice finishing off their competition in a what seemed like a quick 8 ends. This is the second consecutive ACAC Championship for the Vikings Mixed Curling team. This years CCAA National Invitational does not include a Mixed team category, but should be included in next years invitational. The team hopes to continue their Championship streak and attend the CCAA Championships in the near future.

Some of our Vikings curlers were also recognized for the play throughout the season by being named to the ACAC All Conference Team. Sarah McCrae was named as second for the women’s All Conference, and Alison Owens as third, and Mari McLachlan as lead for the Mixed All Conference Team. Congratulations
