Join Augustana’s Dean Dr. Allen Berger, as well as former classmates and friends, for a day of visiting on campus.

As part of the events, you and your family are welcome to participate in a Worship Service beginning at 10 am in the Augustana Chapel. Song, prayer, praise and thanksgiving will be led by Augustana Chaplaincy. We will also name and remember alumni who have passed in the last year.

You and your family are welcome to meet the Dean at brunch, followed by tea and tours.

Schedule of events:

  • 9 am – Morning Greetings and Coffee hosted by the Chester Ronning Centre (Faith and Life Lounge)
  • 10 am – Worship Service presented by Augustana Chaplaincy (Chapel)
  • 11:30 am – Brunch hosted by Augustana’s Dean, Dr. Allen Berger (Forum)
  • 1 pm – Tea & Dessert (Forum)
  • 2 pm – Optional Student-Led Tours OR Presentation on the new Performing Arts Centre OR Alumni Reading Room Open House
  • 3 pm – Farewell

During brunch, Augustana Campus will present the Lois Aspenes Award to Doris Anderson (’45). The Lois Aspenes Award recognizes the contributions of an alumnus/a to the life of Augustana.

Doris (Hendrickson) Anderson and her family are a part of Augustana’s history. Her great-grandfather attended Camrose Lutheran College’s first organizational meeting. Both of her grandfathers served on the founding committee and both parents attended, as did her five siblings. Six of their children and – so far – a great-niece and grandson have studied at Augustana.

Doris was in grade 12 in 1945, served on students’ council and was president of the Aurora Society. She worked in the kitchen and slept in what is now Dittmar Mündel’s office with three other girls. She still has friends from her time at CLC.

These days, Doris spends less time organizing alumni reunions and more time attending events at Augustana. Her favourites are the Chester Ronning Centre offerings, but she is in the audience for concerts, recitals, drama productions, guest lectures and chaplaincy events. She hasn’t missed a Golden Alumni brunch since they began.

“The first thing Augustana does is get you away from home,” she says. “That helps you develop independence – and the rest follows from there.”

Note: The Class of 1962 will hold a 50th anniversary reunion during the Golden Alumni weekend. Telmor Sartison ’62 and Wes Anderson ’62 invite you to join them at a meet and greet dinner on September 29th, as well as to join them and the rest of your classmates who will return for a day of visiting on Campus.

On Saturday, September 29 at 4:30 pm, you are invited to the Class of ’62 Dinner in the Norsemen Inn’s Odin Dining Room.

The class of ’62 and friends are invited to attend this intimate dinner where they can meet, visit and share stories with each other. There will be a limited menu for each guest to choose off of depending on the response that we get from the class: each guest is responsible for the cost of their dinner. If you wish to know more about the dinner or other plans, please contact Telmor Sartison at
