The Vikings men’s basketball team wanted to thank local public servants, in the police, fire and RCMP for the selfless service they provide to our community. The Men’s Basketball team printed off free passes to any Vikings basketball game this season and is in the process of delivering them to these local heroes who risk their lives to make our community the place we all can safely and happily call home.

5th Year Captain Shayn Bruney was the mastermind behind recognizing our local public servants. Bruney spearheaded the campaign from the men’s basketball team, to help recognize the local public servants in Camrose; when asked why he felt this was a cause that the basketball team should undertake Bruney had this to say,

“I thought about how often we as students at Augustana may neglect the safety we have coming to Camrose.  Coming to a new city since most of us are not from Camrose could be dangerous but it doesn’t seem to feel that way. I just think that we should give the credit where it’s due.”

Vikings Athletics would like to take this time to thank all of them for their service and look forward to seeing them cheering on our Vikings Basketball teams through the 2012-2013 season. The basketball home opener is November 2nd vs. NAIT, the women take the court at 6pm and the men at 8pm
