What do 50 Shades of Grey, the Augustana Vocal Department and Valentine’s Day have in common?

web-Truly Madly DeeplyWhat do 50 Shades of Grey, the Augustana Vocal Department and Valentine’s Day have in common? You are invited to come to the vocal department’s performance of TRULY MADLY DEEPLY to find out!

The first half of the show presents a drama in which six aging women from the DO-RE-MI-FA-SOL-LA Book Club (in reality all students of vocal performance in Professor Kathleen Corcoran’s studio) will collectively ponder and pine, cajole and reflect: they must find clarity on this elusive LOVE! The boundaries of traditional art song presentation will be shattered as songs of Purcell, Britten, Copland, Bernstein, and others inspire and enrich the drama.

The second half of the show features our students of today as stars of tomorrow, along with Roger Admiral (pianist) in a fully-frocked presentation of exquisite solo arias from Figaro, Mefistofeles, Rigoletto, Bartered Bride, Boheme and more.

This evening promises some surprises, laughter, poignancy and sophistication as a musical presentation of love in song and aria just in time for Valentine’s Day.

You are invited to this special event beginning at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 12th in the Augustana Faith & Life Chapel – a cultured and entertaining Valentine date idea! Tickets, available at the door, are $10 (adults), $7 (students/seniors). For further information, call the Augustana Music Office (780-679-1532).

Is anybody recording this performance? I can not attend it but i would love to see it. I am willing to buy a DVD (of course for a reasonable price).

    Thank you and Happy Valentine,

      Hello Ms. McCusker,

Thank you for your interest. But I’m sorry to inform you that we do not record these performances with the intent to sell the product to the public for a myriad of reasons. Our recording is for archival and teaching purposes. We will explore with the proper authorities the idea of you perhaps borrowing the archival copy, but we can’t promise anything at this point. Thanks again…we will be in touch.
