Sangkor (Augustana’s Women’s Choir), under the direction of Dr. John Wiebe with Carolyn Olson, piano, presents its annual spring concert on Friday, April 12th at 7:30 pm in the Chapel on Augustana Campus. The concert, “Around the World in Song”, will feature special guests – the Schoen Duo, comprised of Kathleen Schoen (flute/recorder) and Thomas Schoen (violin).
“Around the World in Song” is a world tour of musical songs and styles. Songs from Canada, Ireland, England, Finland, Bulgaria, Russia and the USA are featured in many different styles. To help the audience make the journey, Duo Schoen (SchoenAir) will provide incidental music for the travel between the varied destinations. From Canadian and Russian folk songs, to Canadian and English drinking songs to dances from Ireland and Bulgaria, you are invited to join Sangkor and the Schoens for this wonderfully varied musical travelogue.
