Performing for the choral community in Camrose for the second time this season, Pro Coro Canada asks, “What is more wonderful to sing about than LOVE?”

On Saturday, May 4, 2013, Pro Coro Canada will give a concert on the theme Colours of Love at the University of Alberta’s Augustana Chapel, starting 7:30 p.m.

With passion, humour, and devotion, composers spanning the centuries—Monteverdi, Brahms, and Daniel-Lesur—will woo you with their music of love in all its glorious colours. The a cappella repertoire will also include two world premieres by Canadian composers!

In his production notes for the concert, Pro Coro’s Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Michael Zaugg, says: “The theme LOVE provides so many emotions and perspectives. Some of the most beautiful texts are found in the Song of Solomon. I’ve shaped the program with three works based on that source (Dyrud – Noble – Daniel-Lesur) as pillars (beginning – middle – end). ‘Under’ those arches are love stories of a secular nature, some very sad and heartfelt, some more tongue-in-cheek.”

Tickets are available through the Augustana Bookstore, Candlers Art Gallery, and at the Door. For more information, please contact the University of Alberta’s Department of Fine Arts/Music at Augustana Campus: valerie.bailey@ualberta.ca, tel:780-679-1532.
