Sandra is on a mission to stay involved in the Augustana community, to keep alumni connected, and to foster bonds built at Augustana.

IMG_7673-sggSandra Gawad Gad (BSc Biology ’12) was born in Alexandria, Egypt and moved around a number of Middle Eastern countries growing up. In 2006, she finished her high school with an Irish diploma. Two years later, she decided to pursue post-secondary studies in biology at the University of Alberta Augustana Campus.

It was not what she expected coming from a city of 9 million people; however, it wasn’t long before she fell in love with the campus, along with the sense of community and involvement so important to Augustana. She soon became involved with two clubs, a year later she was a Residence Assistant and part of the Augustana Students’ Association. She also volunteered at alumni events on campus for two years.

Sandra has received numerous awards recognizing her leadership skills and community involvement, including Onesimus Award, Heather Roxanne Huber Memorial Award and Dorothy Clapson Memorial Award. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the University of Alberta North Campus.

By serving on Alumni Council, she hopes to make all these great memories more than just four years of undergrad studies – for herself and her fellow alumni. She is on a mission to stay involved in the Augustana community, to keep alumni connected to continuing learning experiences, and to foster bonds already built at Augustana.
