Incoming first-year students get their education started out right with a backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains!

Spring-Course-2006-021-webYour First-Year Adventure is about getting your university experience started on the right foot! The program is for incoming first-year students and takes place just before university begins in late August. The program is seven days long and is led by current Augustana faculty, students, and alumni.

Your adventure begins on Augustana Campus, where you will spend the night before heading out on a backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains west of Nordegg, Alberta. As a group of incoming first-year students, you will camp and travel, cook, share stories, laugh and explore the natural world together. You will also have opportunities to learn about being a university student and gain confidence as you head into your first year of university!

Besides being a whole lot of fun, there are several reasons to participate in your First-Year Adventure:

  • Meet other first-year students with the same questions about university life.
  • Make friends, meet 3rd– and 4th-year university students, and connect with faculty who can support you throughout your university experience.
  • Ask questions about Augustana, from how to choose classes and living in dorms to where to find the best pizza in Camrose.
