Augustana Winter Drama Production – The Trip to Bountiful (by Horton Foote), directed by Paul
“Sparky” Johnson.

In failing health and advancing years, Carrie Watts longs to return one last time to her family homestead in Bountiful, Texas. At the start of the play, Mrs. Watts is sharing a two room Houston apartment with her son and daughter-in-law. There is growing friction between the three of them and Carrie is determined to get away.

With her uncashed government check and a few dollars in cash, Carrie sets out on her odyssey home. Along the way she meets and inspires a number of people who, in turn, help her in her quest. The production will feature an a cappella ensemble singing the old-time Gospel favorites which underscore Carrie’s life.

Tickets (available only at the door): $15 (general admission); $5 (students).
