UAlberta – Augustana Golfer, Braxton Fox is set to compete at CCAA Nationals this October 14-16.

One hundred student-athletes will compete in the 2014 PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championships, including University of Alberta – Augustana Vikings Student-Athlete and Camrose native, Braxton Fox.

The Tournament takes place October 14-17 at the Club de Golf Lorette in Quebec City, Quebec and is hosted by Champlain College St. Lawrence.

Fox, a third year Physical Education student, finished third in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Golf Championship at the Cardiff Golf Club last weekend. His third place finish gave him a spot in the National Finals, in Quebec, October 14-16.

Augustana’s Athletic Director, Greg Ryan, is pleased, “This is Augustana’s second season in the Conference in Golf, and to have someone represent our institution at a National Championship is certainly quite rewarding.”

“I am very excited to represent Augustana at the Nationals. We have come a long way from our first year and should be even more competitive in the upcoming years. It should be a great experience and I am looking forward to competing at the national level and gaining the experience of playing in an important tournament,” said Fox. “Although I wish my teammates could be joining me as well, I am very grateful to have the opportunity to go, and appreciate the support of Augustana and our wonderful athletics program.”

“Braxton has continued his game improvement over the last four years. He really is dedicated to his game and plays and practices almost every day. His distance is his greatest strength, for a guy that only weighs in at around 135lbs, he hits the driver over 300 yards consistently,” says Head Coach and CPGA Master Pro, Bill Penny. “He is also a very good long iron player. Braxton has also worked for me since I arrived here in Camrose in 2008, working in the back shop for the first 3 seasons and has been in the front shop since 2011. He is a real asset to my business as well as to the Camrose Golf Club.”

Results will be posted daily on CCAA.ca. Updates will also available on Facebook and Twitter.
