MUSIC FOR THE THEATRE!

You are invited to a two-part staged and costumed vocal theatre event featuring students from the 331 class of Professor Kathleen Corcoran at the Augustana Campus of the University of Alberta. Music for the Theatre is slated for Thursday, February 5th at 7:00 pm at the Augustana Campus Faith and Life Chapel.

The first half of the show is a music drama based on a selection of musical theatre songs which identify the hopes, fears, aspirations and personal accounts of students in their very first university class meeting at the start of the academic year. Unsure of what to expect and initially uncomfortable with speaking in class, these students make great strides forward in just one class following their professor’s ‘over-the-top’ example!  Personalities collide and much is revealed through the ‘getting to know you’ exchange which then concludes with an inspirational philosophical adage. The second half of the evening involves fully-frocked presentations of exquisite solos from the operatic aria repertoire. An entertaining evening for opera and musical theatre fans!

Orchestral accompaniment provided at the piano by Katrina Lexvold.

Tickets (available at the door): $12 (adults); $10 (students/seniors). [All Augustana and conservatory students receive admission free of charge with proper I.D.]  R.A.R.E.
