As technologies for communication continue to improve, the roles of writing in learning and teaching have become ever more important and varied in higher education across the globe. Students, instructors, and researchers with diverse language backgrounds and across all disciplines write to learn and to share their understandings and new findings.

How we as teachers and campus leaders design and enact ways to make that writing more productive for students contributes greatly to their success. This presentation draws on examples from different countries and from different programs to suggest ways to make student writing more successful and meaningful in classes across disciplines and in the Augustana Certificate in Writing program.
