Experiential Learning for Students – and Professors Too
Posted on March 24, 2015 by Christopher Thrall
Dr. Tim Parker and Dr. Jérôme Melançon talk about their experiences teaching in – and leading Augustana students through – China.
Tim will describe some of his experiences during his recent visit to UIC as a Visiting Professor. In this capacity, he arrived in Zhuhai on September 1st and taught one section of Introductory Psychology. He will talk about his impressions of the UIC, of the students he taught, and of the opportunity to meet a “United Nations” of staff and faculty.
The course China Tour: Experiencing Development and Change allows students to see first-hand the transformations in the economic, political, social, and cultural life of China brought by the Reforms since the early 1980s. It is a great opportunity for students to reflect on experiences outside of their comfort zone and to foster further learning on the basis of these experiences.
