25Mar - Nursing Drug EducationThe symposium presentation is a group project intended to target the post-secondary student population at the University of Alberta-Augustana Campus. The presentation area will be located in the Forum across from the Bookstore.

Project teams, made up of first-year nursing students, will create presentations that use visual effects and various information dissemination strategies to educate the public. Information to be conveyed to the post-secondary community includes an explanation of the pharmaceutical/natural product agent, how it can be obtained, its intended action, its intended target population, potential adverse effects, health promotion and patient education information as well as any other health considerations. Project teams will also address alternative remedies (pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical) as well as provide information about various community resources/services that can offer more information on an individual basis. The pharmaceutical/natural product agents being showcased are: Ritalin/Adderall (the smart drug), Melatonin (sleep aid), Anavar (performance enhancer), and Orlistat (anti-obesity agent).

Join us at 9:30-11:50 am on March 25 in the Forum!
