Augustana Summer Camps Q&A
Posted on June 29, 2015 by Tia Lalani
Augustana’s Summer Camp season begins next week, so we asked coordinator Kate McConnell about these new programs.
Augustana’s Summer Camp season starts soon. We asked Community Program Coordinator, Kate McConnell, to take a few moments to highlight some of the most frequently asked questions that come into her office:
Q. What kinds of camps are you offering and for what ages?
A. From science, art and music to nature, sports and philosophy (yes, philosophy for children!), we’ve got a variety of super fun and educational day and overnight camps for youth ages 6-18 including:
- Adventurers overnight backpacking trek for grades 7-9
- DiscoverE spectacular science camp for grades 1-6
- Enchanted Arts day camp for grades 1-3
- Explorers activity day camp for grades 5-7
- Let’s Get Movin’ & Groovin’ musical adventure day camp for grades 1-6
- Wild Tech nature and photography day camp for grades 4-6
- Wondering at the World adventures in ideas day camp for grades 4-6
- Vikings Boys Basketball Camp for ages 12-18
- Vikings Girls Basketball Development Camp for ages 12-18
- Vikings Volleyball Tuning Camp for ages 12-18
Q. What is the cut off date for registrations?
A. We are accepting registrations until 4:30pm the Friday before the camp starts, however, camp spaces are filling up fast (our DiscoverE science camp has already sold out!). We encourage parent/guardians to register soon to secure their child’s spot and avoid disappointment.
Q. What are your day camp hours?
A. Our summer day camps run from 8:30am to 4:00pm daily.
Q. Do you offer Before and After Care?
A. Yes! We offer Before Care from 8:00-8:30AM for $15/week and After Care from 4:00-5:00PM for $25/week. We’ve got a bunch of fun, supervised activities lined up including games, arts and crafts, origami, meditation, reading, freeplay, and more! Before and After Care must be arranged by parents/guardians prior to the camp start date by ordering along with their camper registration.
Q. How can I register?
There are two ways to register:
1/ You can register and pay online here OR
2/ You can fill out a registration form and mail in with a cheque. Instructions for this can be found here. Note that registration is first come first served, and registration is not considered complete until payment is received. So, if the camp is sold out online before your cheque arrives, you will be notified and added to a waiting list.
