The annual Battle of The University of Alberta shifted to Camrose this year as a great crowd of Vikings and Golden bears fans filled the Encana centre. The lively atmosphere fuelled both sides and it was a spirited affair. The Vikings struck first as Jeff Lorenz went hard to the paint and shoveled a rebound into the top shelf. The Bears followed up almost immediately with an equalizer. The score remained 1-1 until late in the third period when rookie goaltender Curtis Skip lost his blocker and the Bears were able to take advantage to go up on the scoreboard. They followed up with a couple late goals and the score finished 4-1 in favor of the Bears. The Vikings had very little time to feel badly for themselves as the next game was the following night in Wetaskiwan.

Much like cars, goals cost much less in Wetaskiwin and the Vikings won big 8-3. The Vikings out did the Thunder in almost every category Saturday night and were able to run away with the game. The Vikings had very balanced scoring all throughout the lineup and everyone contributed to the win. Skip and Fredman were solid in between the pipes for the Vikes. The game was very much a confidence booster for the group and gives the team much success to look forward to throughout the year. It should be an exciting season to watch the Augustana Vikings.
