Augustana Faith & Life Chapel
Augustana Voice Faculty Unite in Song, October 30
The concert, presented in the Augustana Faith and Life Chapel, will feature standards of the vocal art song repertoire. As vocal instructors, these three know that the art of communicating through music and words is what defines the classical singer and throughout the centuries great music has been composed to tell great stories. Composers and poets have joined together to not only tell stories but to paint pictures, explore feelings, nature and the great unknown; to, in essence, take us on a journey. Honing skills through the exploration of this vast repertoire is the central component of any singer’s development and mainstay of their performance tool kit.
Brown, Corcoran and Murphy have shared the stage several times over their years at Augustana and are pleased to be back together again. They will be joined by fabulous collaborating pianists Roger Admiral and Tova Olson. What better night to come together in telling stories through music than the night before Hallowe’en?
This recital is also in keeping with Augustana Campus’s 2015-16 academic theme, “A Time to Play”. Well it’s Hallowe’en and time to play…you’re invited to attend the concert in costume! Hallowe’en treats are available in an after-concert reception sponsored by the Augustana Theme Committee. Tickets for the concert (available at the door): $18 (adults); $15 (students/seniors); 12 and under free of charge. (Augustana and Conservatory students are admitted free of charge with proper I.D.)
