RIGELHOF, MORGANThe Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce that Morgan Rigelhof of the Augustana Vikings Women’s Volleyball, has been selected as the 2015-16 ACAC Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Year.

When Rigelhof signed to play with the Augustana Vikings Volleyball team last spring she had little understanding of the impact she would have on the line up. The coaching staff recognized her potential early and named her as one of the team captains. Due to a career ending injury in the second match of the season to fifth year player and Captain, Jill Metrunec, Rigelhof found herself acting as floor captain for the remainder of the season. No easy task for a player fresh out of high school.

A Biology major from St. Albert, Alberta, Rigelhof accepted this expanded role in stride and quickly became a positive force on the floor as well as in the team room. She led by example, working hard to perfect her skill set and continues to work on her understanding of the game at a higher level.

This year she has played in 85 sets, amassing a total of 180 kills, 27 service aces, 212 digs and 12 stuff blocks. This excellent performance by a first year player did not go unnoticed by the opposition as opposing coaches voted Morgan as the ACAC North Division Rookie of the Year for the 2015-16 season.
