This weekend the women’s volleyball team finished off their season against the Lakeland Rustlers. On Friday February 19, the team travelled to Lloydminster, but were unable to come home with a win. The team struggled in the beginning of the first set and lost 19-25. In an exciting second set the team fought back and looked as though they would win the set. Unfortunately, the team was unable to finish and lost the second set 25-27. In the third set the team was unable to come back and lost 19-25. Player of the Game was Kiana Mah.
On Saturday the women’s team finished off their season at home. The team got off to a slow start and struggled with passing a bit losing the first two sets 23-25 and 11-25. However, the team came together and fought back to win the third set 25-23. The women carried the momentum into the fourth set and won 25-19. The team had struggled with fifth sets throughout the season, but they finally came together and found the fire to win. In an exhilarating fifth set the Vikings won 15-10. Alana Fahlman was Player of the Game.
This year the women’s team said goodbye to two of their players. Captain Jill Metrunec and Alana Fahlman will be graduating this year and we wish them the best of luck in the future. These two women have made a tremendous impact upon the program and in acting as role models and mentors for the first year players this year.
