Joel Gehman, an assistant professor of Strategic Management and Organization at the Alberta School of Business, won an award for his work incorporating sustainability into the MBA program, engaging students in sustainability, and encouraging them to publish their research.
Glen Hvenegaard is a professor of Geography and Environmental Studies at the Augustana Campus, and he won an award for his commitment to environmental sustainability. He has been critical in the formation and management of the Augustana Miquelon Lake Research Station, and he participates in events that help further sustainability work at Augustana.
The Augustana Chaplaincy won an award for their leadership in both social and environmental sustainability, which they have demonstrated by building community, supporting diversity and reaching out to campus community members regardless of their faith-related beliefs. The chaplaincy has created a culture of sustainability through initiatives such as SCORE!, an annual freecycling event, and free weekly soup dinners that support local produce and restaurants.
Kirstin Bester, a senior UAlberta Ambassador, won an award in recognition of her inspirational leadership of her sustainability team and the campus community as a whole. She led more than 30 Sustainability Campus Tours (including over 100 participants in total), and she encourages and educates others to apply sustainability principles in their daily lives.
