The University of Alberta, Augustana Vikings Volleyball Teams will be host to the annual Earle Berry Classic Volleyball Tournament on September 9th and 10th. 48 men’s and women’s Senior High School teams from across Alberta will come to compete over the two day period with almost 150 matches being played at Augustana, Camrose Composite High, Charlie Killam and Our Lady of Mount Pleasant.
The tournament namesake, Earle Berry, was a long time volleyball coach at Camrose Composite High and remains an active advocate of volleyball in the City and County of Camrose.
The tournament, although very early in the High School Season, has been witness to some of the best high school volleyball in the Province. Many of the teams attending the tournament will go on to represent their zones at Provincial Championships in late November.
In addition, many of the players that play in the Earle Berry will go on to realize their dream of playing at a post-secondary level. A number of past Earle Berry participants currently play at the ACAC and CIS level throughout western Canada.
The tournament begins Friday, September 9th at 12 noon with the Women’s and Men’s “A” finals scheduled for Saturday at 5:30 and 7:00 pm at Augustana.
