LIEDERABEND – ART SONG RECITAL AT AUGUSTANA!

Camrose and area residents are invited to join us in what has become the Augustana Voice Students’ annual fall recital of art song…including compositions by Schubert, R. Schumann, Wolf, Brahms, and Strauss. You may be wondering what a Liederabend is.  Liederabend dates back to the 1800s, when musicians and lovers of music would gather for the evening at someone’s home, and one or more singers would perform the songs of composers of the day. In the field of classical music, these songs are referred to today as “art songs”, and the German art songs are called “Lieder”. So…welcome to a musical event that celebrates German Art Song!

Step back in time and enjoy the Augustana vocal division’s presentation of “Lieder” on Wednesday, November 9th at 7:00 pm in the Augustana Chapel.  Augustana vocal students from the studio of Harold Wiens – Shaley Bain, Alexandra Brigley, April Heinrich, Carrie-Ann Hubbard, Hilda Lam, Deanna Robillard, Chantel Schultz, Eric Skretting, and Gracie Yelland will each perform with pianist Dr. Roger Admiral.
For ticket and other information, please contact the Augustana Fine Arts Office (ph. 780-679-1532).

Tickets: $10 (adults); $4 (students) – available only at the door. [Augustana and Conservatory students are admitted free of charge with proper I.D.].  R.A.R.E
