On Saturday, December 3rd at 8:00 pm and Sunday, December 4th at 3:00 pm the Augustana Choirs present their annual Advent-Christmas Concert, “A Winter’s Night,” in the Augustana Faith & Life Chapel.
A Winter’s Night continues a Camrose choral tradition as the Augustana Choirs present their annual Christmas concert. We will warm our hands and feet by the fire as we explore and celebrate the season of snow, ice and Christmas. Built around Gordon Lightfoot’s “Song for a Winter’s Night”, the concert proudly presents works by fellow Canadians Robin John King, Diane Loomer, Mark Sirett, Allister McGillivray, Leonard Enns, and Kathleen Allan. Composers from other northern climes are also featured, including Norwegians Frode Fjellheim and Grete Pederson and Lithuanian Vytautas Miškinis. The Augustana Choir, Mannskor: Augustana’s Men’s Choir, and Sangkor Women’s Ensemble, are led by John Wiebe, conductor, Roger Admiral and Carolyn Olson piano, and Dennis Rusinak saxophone. As always, there will be a chance for you sing along with the choirs.
Under the dynamic direction of Dr. John Wiebe the Augustana choirs build on a choral legacy over 100 years old. The choirs have become known for their exquisite sound and attention to detail with national and international tours, conference performances and CD recordings to their credit. You won’t want to miss hearing these ensembles.
Join the choirs for this Camrose tradition and start your Christmas season with a song. Tickets: $20 (adults); $15 (students/seniors/ children). Available at the door or from choir members. R.A.R.E.
