The Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Centre have added another impressive accolade to their list – this time, the Consulting Engineers of Alberta Recreational Building Engineering Award of Merit! See the description below.

“The Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre is a 580 seat theatre located on the Augustana Campus. The theatre includes many sustainable features such as building integrated solar panels on all four sides of the stage tower, a high efficiency chiller and condensing boiler, energy recovery in the air handling units, displacement ventilation and water efficient plumbing fixtures. It is also the first theatre in North America to use LED stage lighting. This resulted in a reduction in load from 100kW to 12.5 kW. All these measures combined to achieve 4 Green Globes, which is the highest possible rating.” From the CEA Showcase Award Winners website.

The Lougheed Centre also recently won the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction’s National Steel Design Award for Sustainability, click here for the story!
