This semester, Dean Allen Berger welcomed anniversary student award donors to campus to join in a meal and conversation, while honouring their long-term investment in Augustana students.
Held in the Hachborn Common Room, this year’s luncheon saw Dean Berger and his enthusiastic guests sharing their aspirations for Augustana, recognized by the University of Alberta’s Strategic Plan as both a leading liberal arts and sciences campus and a living laboratory for teaching and learning innovation. During the luncheon, Dean Berger provided a campus update and thanked those gathered for their commitment to Augustana students through the Community Awards Program.
The Community Awards Program, established in 1973, financially assists Augustana students with their post-secondary education through student awards created by generous community members and business owners. Augustana’s named annual and endowment funded awards have grown to over 200, with new donors joining the program on a yearly basis.
This year, 18 donors are celebrating award anniversaries ranging from 15 to 45 years. Over their many years of support, these awards have provided financial assistance to more than 520 students, with 22 students benefitting in this academic year.
