The music division is pleased and proud to announce that a number of Augustana sessionals, alumni and current students have made their mark at the Alberta Music Festival Association’s Provincial Festival. Kudos are extended to the following individuals and ensembles in a number of categories:

Choral

  • The Camrose Camerata, Joy-Anne Murphy, conductor—first place, Alberta Excellence choral class (19 years and over)
  • Kuimba, Tova Olson, conductor—first place, Alberta Excellence choral class (25 years and under)
  • Seraphina Women’s Choir, Faye Bredeson, conductor (Class of 2007)—second place, Choral (senior)
  • The Gracenotes, Rhonda Sylvester, conductor (Class of 2008)—second place, choral (16 years and under)
  • Harry Balfour School Choir, Anna Tomke (Walisser), conductor (Class of 2012)—second place elementary school choir (grades 1-3)

Vocal Solo

  • Alexandra Brigley, student of Kathleen Corcoran & Harold Wiens—first place, senior musical theatre
  • Gracie Yelland, student of Kathleen Corcoran & Harold Wiens—second place, vocal solo, senior
  • Keysha Swanson, student of Charlene Brown—second place, vocal solo (16 years & under)
  • Kyra Gusdal, student of Charlene Brown and daughter of our men’s hockey coach, Blaine Gusdal—second place, senior musical theatre
  • Students of Rhonda Sylvester’s (Class of 2008) private vocal studio placed first in 12 years & under musical theatre, 2nd in 12 years & under vocal solo and 2nd in 16 years & under boys vocal solo

Brass Solo
1. Juanita Hohm, daughter of Rosanna Heise—first place, Alberta Excellence brass solo
